The Dutch Dragon Association, founded in 1961, has +/- 220 members and a fleet of +/- 110 Dragons. Of the 220 members about 50 are more or less active in racing, the other boatowners are recreative sailrs or are restoring their Dragons. The other members are ex Dragonsailors, crewmembers or people who want to become crewmember.
We issue a club magazine 3 times a year. The International Dragon Association Newsletter is sent to all members once a year.
The websites of the various organizations (national Dragonclass organizations, IDA, events etc.) have taken over partially the role of the magazines.
The regatta season in Holland starts in March on the lakes near Amsterdam and ends in September on the ijsselmeer near Medemblik with the Open Dutch Championship. Round these regattas we organize socials, varying from 'beer and bitterballen' till a sailorsmeal, where all members are welcome, not only the participants.
At the beginning of November the Annual General meeting takes place, where things like regatta calendar, finances, technical rule amendments etc. are on the agenda.
The year is traditionally closed with an end-of-the-year drink in the Pampusbar, Royal Yacht Club Muiden.
In the winter season special events are organized for the various groups of Dragonsailors, like racing rules instructions, restoration old wooden Dragons, etc.
The membership fee is € 90,-- per year. For members younger then 25 years the fee is € 30,-- per year.
