After the 4th victory of the Muiden series, it was clear that Team NED 422 of Jan Bakker and his sons Olivier and Dominic became the winners of the Grote Prijs van de Stad Enkhuizen 2018.
After winning the 4th Muiden serie it was clear for the class that the Santa Maria replica remains in their hands for another year.
WELL DONE JAN, OLIVIER and DOMINIC !
The 4th Serie was sailed on 23-24 June from the RNLYC in Muiden.
14 teams participated among which our friends from Germany (GER 1005) and Belgium (BEL 66).
The race started with a small delay due to engine problems of the RC yacht. The line boat of Elar Pigeaud was converted swiftly, so the delay resulted in only one missed race. The advantage thought was that Elmar Pigeaud has now sufficient qualifications with his yacht to become RC yacht. Also due to light & variable wind, only two races could be completed on Saturday.
On Sunday the WNW-ly wind provided three more races to complete the 4th serie.
Team NED 345 with Frits Daarnhouwer as replacing crew on board with Reinier Wissenraet and Marc Reijnhoudt, became second. RNLYC Board member and spouce of Frits, Marlous Daarnhouwer, was the stand in for Frits to receive his prize from Dragon sailor Marc van Bemmel (NED 247) in his capacity as Vice Commodore Sailing of the RNLYC.
Team NED 345 with Marlous replacing Frits for the prize giving.
Team NED 432 with the regular crew of Michiel van Dis (Commodore of the RNLYC), Wouter van Dis and Jeroen Burks finished 3rd.
The next Dragon event sailed from Muiden will be a revival of the Dragon Class during the Flevo Race 18 and 19 August ( subject ot sufficient participation)
